The ecological practices of Atelier Scale in Kunyu Mountain National Nature Reserve are based on thorough investigation and rigorous design in awe of nature. We attempt to rethink the development and utilization method of nature reserves with a complete and unified design idea, without compromised for short-term effects. From a plank road to a toilet, to a country park, all the way up to the whole scenic area, we have maintained a long-term sustainable attitude. We developed a system of prefabricated components featuring low-intervention, making the building process in the nature reserve safer, more convenient, and efficient. Atelier Scale believes that national nature reserves are not only the natural heritage of China, but also that of the whole world, and they should remain intact on the earth. All construction projects related to leisure and tourism should be carried out under the principle of “sustainability” with “minimum intervention in nature”. In the design process, we should not only consider people’s external sightseeing experience, but also stimulate people’s deep love and curiosity of nature from the inside.
