The way we obtain energy has been causing great damage to our mother nature. With the development of electronics to be smaller, lighter and more mobile, Can “electricity” be designed to be greener, lighter and more flexible by using "clothing" as a new media that is close to the human body? Power Mutualism is a wearable self-driven power-generation biomaterial based on cyanobacteria bio-photovoltaics. It generates electricity through cyanobacteria’s photosynthesis and respiration while harvesting energy from human bodily fluids, air and sunlight. It’s like a cell-level power plant, providing distributed high-entropy energy with low-power, large quantity and strong mobility. It contributes to a kind of distributed high-entropy energy with low power, high quantity and high mobility. Wearables and IoT electronics can be self-powered in the scenarios like doing sports and outdoor adventures, getting rid of restrictions like charging frequently. I also hope it can help to promote the wearable sensor network in future city. Power Mutualism aims to promote the sustainable development by utilizing not only the wasted biomass in “Cyanobacteria Blooms” that have broken out worldwide, but also the “useless” energy in human body environment. With the cyanobacteria absorbing carbon dioxide and producing fresh oxygen during the process of operation, each wearer contributes to "negative" emissions rather than just "zero" emissions. It is a product endowed with a collaborative effort between biological and digital mechanisms, between nature and human beings.

 

一直以来人类获取能源的方式对大自然造成巨大的伤害。随着电子产品向移动性更强、更可穿戴的趋势发展,未来的“电能”,能否借由贴近人体的“衣物”作为全新媒介,而变得更轻巧、更灵活、更绿色? 电能共生体是一件功能性的可穿戴科技时尚设计,使用了设计师发明的自驱动型蓝藻细菌发电材料,能够从人体汗液、阳光和空气中获取养分,通过蓝藻细菌的光合作用与呼吸作用释放电能。它就像一个随穿戴者移动的小型发电厂,为可穿戴小型智能设备提供绿色能源,使其摆脱外部电源充电、更换电池等限制,满足近未来可穿戴传感网络与物联网的分布式能源需求。电能共生体以时尚衣物为日常载体,畅想和推动能源分配向功率低、数量多、移动性强的高熵模式发展,未来有潜力应用于运动生理监测、户外应急供电等场景,最重要的是,它能帮助构建未来城市的可穿戴传感网络与物联网。 并且这项技术是完全绿色的,它有效利用了被视为海洋垃圾而丢弃的蓝藻,也利用了人体环境中原本“无用”的汗液,构成新型清洁能源。在运作过程中,蓝藻能吸收二氧化碳、产出新鲜的氧气,每一个穿戴者都不止为“零”排放作出贡献,更是促进了“负”排放,促进了人类与自然的可持续发展。
