Common Space is a spontaneous group of young people from different industries, aiming to provide a voice platform for young people with ideas, and also hope to provide a new and old inheritance example for society through this transformation. The project is next to the ancient village park and elementary school. The park is a Ming Dynasty ancestral hall site, and the base is a pawnshop storage building in the late Qing Dynasty. According to records, the original height was twice that of the current situation and has been abandoned for 20 years. Due to the intervention of community groups, activity space, and community kitchens are needed, which conflicts with the defensive attributes such as high stone walls, deep door holes, and more than 1m internal and external height difference of the pawnshop. And the low pavilion next to the park, the staggered tree branches together construct a pleasant scale at the bottom layer that inspired us. We reshaped the stall skylight and alley ground in front of the door, used segmented steps and similar materials to dissolve the height difference and sense of obstruction, let neighbors lose direct perception of door hole size through mirrors, and reduce entry pressure; At the same time retain wild vegetation on door head, hope stall as park extension, landscape sense can continue, Indoor activity space, add inverted triangle roof for originally cramped space brought flow direction. When people go up step by step through the skylight into an indoor view along the wall along the ceiling again look outside and meet sunrise sunset sunshine. Due to limited funds design and construction following principles: 1. Reuse old materials to reduce garbage and handling: · Indoor concrete floor (use roof tile fragments as aggregate) · Outdoor paving (use old bricks and stone slabs cleaned out)) · Community kitchen uses leftover old wooden beams steel materials sunlight board complete final design construction. 2. 90% of construction masters live in village 3. 90% of materials are purchased within one kilometer.
