Sparking Farm aims to explore how virtual reality technology can reshape the interaction between people and everyday objects. The project targets at mundane household chores that people are reluctant to engage in, by redesigning daily tools and environments, and enhancing direct feedback on actions and environmental cues, while introducing a level achievement mechanism to achieve psychological model substitution of user behavior. Through this substitution, we hope to liberate users from the tediousness of daily household chores, allowing them to enjoy the pleasure of planting flowers and harvesting fruits in a virtual garden, thereby enhancing users' satisfaction and sense of accomplishment in their daily activities. We have conducted in-depth research and understanding of the behavioral actions and psychological processes involved in "people doing household chores". By redesigning and producing everyday household tools, we align these material entities with the psychological models designed in virtual space, thereby achieving psychological model substitution without altering user behavior. Guided by the ideal and direction of "technology for good", we have explored how virtual reality technology can be applied to enhance people's mental well-being in this project. As an outstanding student case, we are honored to be invited to present at the 2024 Los Angeles World Information Architecture Day, where we will share our project experience and achievements.
