This book is daily notes handwritten by calligrapher Xia Jianfeng. The content is not about poems in Tang or Song Dynasty, not about the ambitions of great poets Li Bai or Du Fu, but about the author himself. Only when writing about oneself, the rhythms of language and handwriting can be perfectly balanced. He only recorded those worth mentioning, like whom he met and what he thought. The author did not intend to write a diary of trivialities. His pursuit is to put his words together to deliver messages that reflecting the values of his thoughts. The book was bound by a linen thread, which reminds readers of the ancient Chinese wisdom of “tying knots in ropes to record the history” that echoes with the calligraphers’ tradition of “handwriting to record the world.” The folding structure of the book resembles a roll of Xuan paper, a traditional paper used by Chinese for handwriting and painting, which is associated with the attribute of calligraphic catalog. The layered deckle edge with calligraphic strokes of the book name, Huiqin Chamber, provides readers a three-dimensional way of reading. The book design adopts relaxing, simple and oriental elements that are the very best interpretation of what does the daily handwriting by a calligrapher look like.
